When Is the Best Time

The Evercreech Rainforest is another hidden gem amazingly not overrun. We only met some residents at the small carpark. This reserve protects the tallest white gums in the world. The trail through the forest is accessible throughout the year, though passing the river after heavy rainfall might be challenging. The gravel road to the forest is in good condition though we were glad to have a 4 WD.

Weather

Where there is a rain forest, there is rain! This area is often cloudy or overcast. Summer brings pleasant temperatures, usually around 20°C. The winter is cold with one-digit temperatures. Even frost can occur, and it's the wettest time of the year, with its peak in August. The driest months are the summer, from December to March. Yet, it's Tassie. Don't let the rain spoil your vacation when visiting this outstanding destination.

The Evercreech Reserve was developed in 1977 to protect these magnificent white gums. The trees are the world's tallest white gums, more than 90 meters high. They are called “White Knights”. A gravel road leads to this beautiful old rainforest. A well-marked hiking trail leads to the white gums. Back at the basic picnic area is another trail along the Evercreech rivulet through this stunning rainforest to the Evercreech Falls.

In the beginning, you cross the stream with a bridge on the way back. Both short circular trails look like an eight. These combined trails are less than 4 km long. You may need more than an hour to enjoy these majestic gums, fern trees, sassafras, Tasmanian myrtle, Blackwood, and so much more. The picnic area is a lovely spot for lunch. There is a BBQ area, and even restrooms are available.

Tip

Combine the Evercreech Rainforest with the Blue Tier Forest Reserve and the Blue Tier Giant. Stay in Saint Helens for a couple of days to visit the amazing rainforests and Eddystone Point part of the Bay of Fires.
